As a health nut and single gal who likes to get down with her bad self on the weekends, I’m picky about my cocktails. Forget the red bull and well vodka. Can you say hangover? Organic fruit, fresh mint, and the smoothest vodka please! Bars and restaurants across the country have picked up on the trendy green health kick, concocting all sorts of wonderful antioxidant, nutrient rich drinks. Recently I discovered an even more divine alternative to fruit packed drinks, VeeV!
What do you get when you mix the superpower of the acai berry with liquor? Pretty much the most perfect cocktail of all time. As you all should know by now I’m in love with acai! Sipped by the most glamorous of Hollywood celebs, this 60 proof acai infused spirit takes an ordinary martini to the stratosphere. Instead of vodka, slip this silky smooth coco-berry liquor into just about any cocktail. The lower in calories the better. Let’s just count the ways VeeV is so stellar:
1.) Made with 100% natural ingredients, including organic Acai berries, prickly pear and acerola cherries. 60 proof to boot!
2.) The Acai berries are harvested from environmentally sustainable farms. $1 dollar from every bottle purchased goes back to the Sambazon’s Sustainable Acai Project to protect and replenish the rainforest.
3.) VeeV is also the only certified carbon neutral spirits company in the world. Running their distillery on renewable wind energy.
So you can actually feel good about the drink in hand? Awesome! I think this is definitely my new drink. I checked with my local jug shop and was ecstatic to find that a bottle is only $34.99. I figured since it wasn’t listed on VeeV’s website that it was super pricey. But that’s doable, for a fab night out without the guilt of really trashing your body.
Wanna try? Here’s one of their refreshing summer recipes:
VeeV-ito:
2.0 oz VeeV,
2 fresh lime wedges,
3 fresh mint leaves
Muddle two lime wedges and 3 fresh mint sprigs in a mixing glass. Add VeeV and ice and shake ingredients well. Pour into a glass and top with club soda and garnish with a fresh sprig of mint.
Of course I couldn’t resist the mojito recipe…
