My #PilatesEveryDamDay Challenge launches today! Join me as I share and practice 30 of my favorite pilates mat exercises over the next month on Instagram and Facebook.
Every day I will post a video demonstrating a classical or contemporary pilates mat piece with my top how-to tips. I will offer a variety of different cues for beginning through advanced practitioners. Are you ready to sculpt a long lean body with me?

Day #1 is Frog. The ultimate butt and hamstring sculptor! Lay on your stomach with hands under your forehead. Turn out your legs so your knees are the width of your shoulders. Squeeze your heels together and flex your feet. Pull your heels close to your body and draw your abs in away from the ground. Inhale to relax your shoulder, exhale to lift your knees off the floor. Inhale to lower half way down, exhale to lift. Repeat 10 times and then hold your knees off the floor for 5 long deep breaths.
For more challenge: Squeeze your heels together the entire exercise and continually pull the heels closer and closer to your body as you lift. This keeps the inner thighs and hamstrings engaged more fully. Focus your mind on the muscles you are trying to fire to contract them deeper.
Beginners Tip: If you feel your lower back straining you have lifted your legs too high and have not engaged your abs enough. Press your pelvis into the mat and draw your abs into your body.
