Time continues to tick, UV rays seep in, and pollutants will forever invade your environment. Aging is inevitable. Change is the only constant. So what are we to do? Sit in a dark cave dreading the doomed years of sagging and wrinkles? I think not. Preventive measures and a new mind set are all you’ll need to age effortlessly into your 90’s.

After years of copious amounts of reading here are my chosen anti aging techniques….


1.) Eat for your skin: What you put into your mouth is what will manifest in the body. Plain and simple. Eating whole, unprocessed food from the Earth is the best way to make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need to keep your skin and body looking and feeling fabulous. Munching antioxidant rich foods will consume those nasty free radicals that wreak havoc on your skin and lead to cancers of all types. Need some antioxidant snack ideas? Look no further then here.

2.) Don’t leave the house without: Sunscreen. Slather it on before you head out into a blue bird day to prevent wrinkles, sun spots and the like. Because skin is the largest organ in the body and is very porious, absorbing most environmental toxins, be conscious of what chemicals you are exposing it to. 3.) Sleep tight: Getting a full 8 hours of sleep is one of your most vital preventative tips. During sleep the body goes into restorative mode; rebuilding cells and cleaning out toxins. If you don’t allow the body to have that time to rebuild you might as well throw out all those anti aging facial cremes. It’s also suggested that sleeping on your tummy or side causes excess wrinkles on the face.

4.) Exercise everything: Getting your blood pumping everyday oxygenates the body and gets vital energy moving and grooving. In Traditional Chinese Medicine movement of chi (your energy)through the meridians is key to vibrant health and a glowing complexion. Exercise and meditation are perfect ways to access this energy and feel radiant. I am a particular fan of facial exercise as well. Facerise, working the muscles of the face, under the skin creates a younger, firmer appearance.

5.) Eat less and live longer: The science behind this rule abounds. Eat small portions through the day and watch your metabolism soar and life span grow.

6.) Detox everything: You don’t need to live on juice for a week in order to clear your body of toxins. I recommend eating whole, unprocessed food for a week. That means fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds and whole grains. No caffeine, alcohol or other toxins. Also become aware of your daily environmental toxins. The pollution you are exposed to in the air, water you drink, and home environment.
The truth of the matter is that no matter how much we try to prevent aging, it really comes down to our mindset. I am sure most of you don’t feel your age. You feel like a teenager trapped in a 30 something year old body with children.
Turning 24 a few weeks back didn’t really phase me. Rounding the quarter century mark usually sends people’s heads spinning…”what have I done with my life thus far?…damn…it’s all down hill from here…” These thoughts only breed insecurity and dread for the future. Stepping into the now and swapping your negative dread for positive self thoughts will make you question why age is even an issue.
