Super Bowl Sunday is a snacking extravaganza! Hot dogs, nachos, burgers, chips and dip- a truly “American” event. I like to think that’s how we used to define “American.” Our image is outdated, definitions and labels need a revamp asap. Labels suck! And while it’s “traditional” to sit on a lazy boy hovering over a coffee table of artery clogging, nutrient void garbage in between matches of beer pong in the back yard, whats really “American” is our freedom of choice. Our individuality and creative edge fuels our country’s prosperity.
Creativity, energy, and vitality are embodied by living food cuisine. I’m not saying you have to completely revamp your plans, but challenge your alchemy skills and add some high vibe nutrient rich options to the table this year. Game on! Toss in some superfoods and you’ve really got a party! I’d rather be buzzing off delicious energizing raw concoctions than beer and fried chicken any day. Here are some simple and creative ideas for you from Goneraw.com. One of my favorite hubs of raw recipes…

Sweet Guaca-Maca Collard Wraps from David Wolfe’s book Superfoods: The Food and Medicine of the Future
* 3 avocados
* 3 tsp. maca
* 1/2 tbsp. Celtic sea salt or Himalayan salt
* 1 tbsp. raw honey
* juice of 1 lime
* 1 1/2 tsp. spirulina
* 1 cup sprouted sunflower seeds
* 1-2 tbsp. raw sesame tahini
Put all ingredients in a bowl and mash or blend in a blender to a creamy consistency. Stuff into collard greens and wrap it up! For an extra kick, add cacao nibs to the guaca-maca!
Notes: This may be a little bit different than the guacamole you’re used to, but it’s a great example of making a variation on a classic recipe to expand your tastes.
Also a quick reminder that The Great Health Debate starts Sunday night as well.
I’ll be spending Super Bowl Sunday at a rockin raw food potluck meet-up group after sweating it out in dance class. I’m not a sports fan, but love festivities and any excuse to party with yummy food. Enjoy the fun and cheers to your unique epic choices.
