candy bar isle
Eating a diet rich in nutritious whole foods coupled with regular exercise is a sure fire way to lose weight and keep it off. The tricky part about changing your eating habits is finding ways to stick to the program and eliminate junk food. Here is a great trick that has helped me steer clear of all that sugary, fattening, artery clogging crap.

Diet Tip: The next time your in the grocery store, skip the isles that hold all the candy, sodas, chips, cookies, and other nutrient deficient, processed junk food. Chances are we all know which isle holds what in our favorite store, so make a conscious effort to walk right past (don’t even look) at the isles full of stuff you know is bad for you and head for the produce section.

eat your vegetablesThe key is that if the junk is out of sight it will hopefully be out of mind. Of course you don’t want to deprive yourself completely of all things sinful…. like chocolate.., yummm.., but ridding your diet of junk food is the first huge step in developing a healthy new relationship with food.

The same tip can be applied to your kitchen cabinets or fridge. If a frozen pizza and a quart of mint chip is the first thing you see when you open the fridge, you’re going to definitely be more inclined to dive in. If you don’t buy it you won’t eat it.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, you can do the same thing with those taunting vending machines. If you find yourself making a b-line for the vending machine for an afternoon snack, pack a healthy snack from home and avoid that damn machine. If anything, just for peace of mind!
