Milk Drunk.

Wilder is now 4 days old and he’s breastfeeding like a champ. He’s most active at night at the moment and now that my milk is officially in he is taking full advantage.

Sleeping at night is elusive, so I’m doing my best to nap during the day when he is sleeping. JP also takes him every morning for me for a few hours so I can catch up on some zzz’s.

I’m extremely grateful that breastfeeding has been very seamless for us thus far. Within 10 mins of his birth, he was latched well and nursing. I thankfully haven’t had any colostrum or milk supply issues yet.

It’s been a huge weight off my shoulders because I know how many women struggle to breastfeed. It’s not as easy or flawless as it may seem. Lactation consultants exist for many reasons and I was ready to hire one if I needed it to help us sync up.

There are SO many health benefits to breastfeeding for both Wilder and myself. I’ve been praying everything would flow and so far it’s been AWESOME.

Besides sore nipples and waking up all night, I’m thoroughly enjoying the deep bonding we experience breastfeeding. I just stare at him for hours!

What a blessing to be able to provide natures magic elixir to your babe! Women’s bodies are INCREDIBLE to say the very least.

My heart goes out to all women who wanted nothing more than to breastfeed but have complications that are out of their control. I can only imagine how hard that is.

P.S – I finally nailed a shot with his beautiful blue eyes open. Doesn’t he look like JP?! I hope his eyes don’t change colour. They are just gorgeous!

For those of you who’ve been asking, his cute onesies are from @poshpeanut. They make the softest bamboo baby clothes, swaddles, hats, bibs, blankets, etc.

Much Love,

Amber Sears
