Last weekend I had a blast exploring my favorite event of the year, The San Francisco Green Festival! Each Green Festival event features more than 125 speakers and 300 Green Marketplace exhibitors, as well as live music, hands-on workshops, family activities, local vegetarian cuisine and organic beer and wine. This year’s speakers included The Fabulous Beekman Boys, Amy Goodman, Dr. Sharif Abdullah and many more.
I decided a simple write up wouldn’t do. I needed to show the action as it was happening. How better to do that then with twitter and my new beloved picture app Instagram? Here’s my instagram feed from the weekend highlighting all the green conscious fun that unraveled.
The bright Saturday morning began with a dip into the best aloe vera cream on the market- Hawaiian Aloe Vera.
I danced over to the HealthForce Nutritional‘s booth and caught up with some buddies of mine. Samples of their vitamineral green superfood powder and warrior protein were flowing. Chlorella tabs were on the scene as you can see with our green teeth. I religiously use their VitaMineral greens and Mint Maca in my morning smoothies. Divine!

Buzzing off all that liquid sunshine green energy, I hopped over to the Green Bike Effect booth. These electronic bikes go up to 35mph, fold up to fit anywhere and make riding up San Francisco hills a breeze. I think I was the only nut zipping around inside the pavilion, but it was so fun. Greener than a motorcycle and more efficient and inexpensive them most road bikes, I’m sold!
I had definitely worked up an appetite by this point and stopped over at the Artisana nut butter booth. This local, Berkeley made, raw organic nut butter company creates the tastiest goodies. I’m in love with their sample size to-go packets for traveling. The almond, coconut and cocoa bliss butters are to die for.
As the beach loving, barefoot strutting gal I am, I played a little dress up with the boys from Indosole. Their sandal and shoe soles are made of recycled motor bike tires from Bali. Brilliant idea and an awesome lifestyle for the owners. Yet another reason to live half the year in Indonesia.
At this point I was itching for some fun movement and hung from an OmGym for a bit. Weightless fitness is where it’s at. Make sure to warm up before you attempt this. My low back was a wee bit unhappy after this pose.
Dyana from Green Kids Theater was dangling around too!
Sunday began with perfect posture in the Nada Chair. Turn off hip flexors and turn on your core! The Nada Chair straps hold your pelvis in neutral so your spine can stack properly. No more back pain or tight hips from sitting.
I couldn’t help but watch the kidlets in yoga class as part of the Green Kids Corner. Start them young :D.
I had to dash to teach a workshop in the afternoon, but made time for Lydia’s Lovin Foods delicious raw eats. Her nut pate sushi roll, kale chips and buckwheat crackers fueled me for the rest of the day. Chew your water!
Luckily, Green Festival rolls through the city twice a year. I can’t wait for October’s 10 year anniversary blowout. Have you been to Green Fest?
Twitter and Instagram are the easiest way for me to update you on what’s evolving as I begin to travel a lot more in the next two months. Follow me here.
Prime example, I’m writing to you from the gorgeous Rancho La Puerta retreat center in Baja California. @Onelovemeg (aka Megan) and I had a glorious first day and night and can’t wait for what’s to come.

I can see why Rancho La Puerta has been voted the number 1 destination spa retreat center in the world for the last several years. Megan and I walk around with our mouths agape all day, uttering “this is so cool, that is soooo beautiful!” We’ve lost words to describe how awesome this place is and it’s only day one. I’ll be updating you as much as I can through facebook and twitter throughout the week. My more lengthy posts here on Epicself take a few days to create.
Wishing you a fantastic start to your work week!
