You reach for one potato chip and soon find yourself devouring the whole bag. Even though your fingers scrape the bottom you’re still “hungry.” Why do you continue to crave when your tummy is stuffed? Salt, oil and sugar. SOS lurks in almost all processed foods. Did you know these highly refined substances actually act like drugs in the brain? Welcome to the pleasure trap!
I learned all about SOS two weeks ago on my weekend stay at True North Health Center in Santa Rosa, California. True North has helped thousands of people reverse disease by adopting a whole food plant SOS free diet.
My buddy Jeff and I had fun filming this interview with Dr. Alan Goldhammer. His center and line up of docs are leading the pack in plant based nutrition and healing in the country. Alan sat with us for two hours answering all of our pertinent health questions.

After a weekend eating SOS free at the center we wrapped the weekend at one of our favorite raw food restaurants in Fairfax. Bad idea! Every restaurant, including raw food places, pack their food with salt and oil to entice you back. I went to bed in a food coma and woke up with super puffing face the next morning from the mega dose of salt.
Since my visit I’ve definitely noticed how eating more SOS sends my cravings through the ceiling! I haven’t been adding salt to any of my food for quite some time and that weekend really solidified my reasoning.
My Top Tip: Instead of loading up on salt just use saltier veggies like celery and seaweed. When you do have a chip craving reach for kale chips instead. Eat healthy fats in their true form. Olives instead of olive oil, ground flax seeds instead of flax oil, etc.

What do you think? Do you live on SOS, corn, soy and flour?
