My roommate is going to strangle me. I recently moved house and my adorable new roommate, Alexis, just so happens to have a food processor. I haven’t lived with a food processor or a blender in years and have eagerly jumped into making a wide range of meals. Besides making a ton of dirty dishes and blaring the blade in the morning (sorry Alexis!), I’ve actually made some killer green smoothies.

Unlike the full fruit cousin, green smoothies are packed with dark leafy greens and other veggies which give it that green hue.

All of us can use more greens in our diet, but some have a hard time stomaching some of the more bitter varieties like kale or collard greens. Blending 50% greens with 50% fruit will disguise the flavor while giving you all those vital nutrients.
As you’ll see, I also toss in chia seeds! Instead of using hemp or flax seeds for the omega three punch, I spoon in my new love. Learn why chia seeds rock and how they’ll turn you into an aztec warrior.
Watch me experiment in my narrow little kitchen and see what I create out of a bunch of leftovers…The catch all smoothie!

I simply can’t get enough of this smoothie idea. Beyond the trillion of varieties you can mix up, the blender acts like a garbage disposal or compost bin. Just toss in the last carrot, some mixed greens, a beet, the sky is the limit. Don’t throw away what you can use in a catch all smoothie. We can save the planet in small yet powerful ways.
What is your favorite green smoothie recipe? Lets swap some ideas!
