Glancing outside here in San Francisco you’d never know it was the dead of winter. Freakish warm temps and sunny blue skies can’t negate the fact that we are in the midst of cold and flu season. I feel for you poor souls suffering through below zero days! Don’t know how you do it. But, no matter the beauty outside we must brace ourselves for the onslaught of bacteria and germs. While I have my own methods of immune defense building I wondered what you epic readers do to maintain stellar health throughout the year. Here are a few ways on how I stay healthy through the cold season!

My proven immune boosting techniques…

1.) Eat fresh fruits and veggies daily

2.) Drink EmergenC’s or Airbourne every morning and especially after a night out drinking

3.) Sip warm ginger, green or detox tea

4.) Bask in the heat of a sauna a few days a week

5.) Exercise everyday in order to keep my lungs clear and heart pumping

6.) Drink lots-o-water

7.) Keep my distance from sick people

8.) Wash my hands enough…note: not obsessively…too much antibacterial and we’ll breed super bacteria!!

9.) Eat soup
10.) Get 8 hours of sleep a night…period.
These top 10 are things I do everyday and when a bug sets in I just do more of each. Seems to work great as I haven’t gotten a bad cold in the last two years. As you can see I’m for a more holistic approach, but some people swear by throat lozenges like Halls, and wonder pills like Tylenol PM.

I’d love to add some methods to my list and I’m sure many others would appreciate your health secrets. So spill it in the comments!
