Bikini season is in full swing, and while you want to frolick in the waves, hike mountains and create endless Summer adventures, you are sidelined with cramps, bloating, low back pain, and one wild temper. Don’t Pop Painkillers. 


Drink Dong Quai: Revered as the ultimate, all-purpose woman’s herb, dong quai, or angelica root, has been used by woman throughout China and Asia for thousands of years. This potent herb is traditionally used to regulate menstrual periods, enhance fertility, build blood, strengthen bones, and maintain healthy hair, skin, and nails.
It also relieves hot flashes and other symptoms related to menopausal changes. But studies have shown that in addition to reducing these discomforts, dong quai increases immune functions and reduces levels of damaging free radicals in the bloodstream.
Stick with mother nature and put down the liver clogging pain pills that only mask symptoms.

Forgo Caffeine and Processed Sugar:I know so many woman who rely on these two stimulants to survive more challenging times. So I have to break it to you. Caffeine tends to increase jitters, irritability and dehydrates you at a time when you need more water to help the body flush and replenish. Sip some green juice instead.
And though you probably crave sweets during your cycle, put down the cookie! Sugar is incredibly addictive, some studies suggest more than cocaine. It packs pounds on your frame, and leads to long term preventable diseases like diabetes.

Try a filling superfood smoothie with raw chocolate and maca root to help balance your hormones and get your chocolate fix. Or whip up an avocado, banana, chocolate pudding.
Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 2 to 4 servings
Equipment: Blender or food processor
Ingredients:
2 medium avocados
1 banana
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup raw cacao powder
1 Tbsp maca powder
1/3 cup water or coconut water
Blend all ingredients, add water for desired consistency & serve immediately.

Thank and Treat Your Body: Remember during the heat of an emotional outburst or downright crummy day, to show gratitude and breathe. Inhale and exhale. Your body is incredible! It can magically create a baby. Some woman will never have that opportunity. Show yourself some love by pampering and celebrating your womanhood.
Take a spa day for yourself, avoid stressful people and situations, listen to your favorite tunes, take a restorative yoga class, eat delicious healthy light bites, dress up and strut your gorgeous self. Put the black threads back on the hanger and wear color, even if it’s pink sweatpants.In simple words, do what makes you feel amazing.
Try this forward fold with a small knee bend to help with low back tension. Sway your torso side to side. Feels divine! Hip openers are vital for releasing tension, emotions and stagnant energy in the pelvis as well.
